KOCHI: Security has been beefed up in the state following the explosion in the car of an Israeli diplomat in New Delhi on Monday. The major tourist spots in the state like Fort Kochi, Munnar, Thekkady, Kovalam and Alappuzha are under police scanner. “These areas are being constantly monitored by the police. Security is upped at railway stations, airports and bus stations.

All the district police heads were given directions to monitor the situation.

The bomb squads and Quick Response Team (QRT) were also alerted,” a police official said. “The situation is under control in Kochi. We have deployed enough cops to check any suspicious move. The police are also deployed at the Jewish Synagogue in Mattanchery.

“Strict vigil has been maintained as the number of tourists arriving from Israel in the state is higher than that of other states. “ The patrolling of control rooms has also been intensified,” the police official said.
