Sena has failed to rule Mumbai corporation: Chavan

Press Trust of India

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Wednesday said Shiv Sena had completely failed in ruling the country's premier civic body, the Mumbai municipal corporation.

Addressing party workers here, Chavan said though Congress had decided to align with NCP for next month's municipal corporation polls to defeat "communal forces", it will go alone in Zilla Parishad elections as the party wanted to reach the grassroot level.

He also released a booklet, a compilation of the state's and the centre's flagship schemes for the 'jansevaks' (friend of the people) which the party has appointed.

Chavan asked the jansevaks to be in touch with him through email.

State Congress chief Manikrao Thakre said 35,000 jansevaks will be appointed in the next five months and the flagship programmes will be implemented under their watch.
