Sensex nosedives by 800 points, below 10,200

Mumbai: The markets opened in the green but could not sustain its strength at the higher levels and soon moved into negative territory.

The Sensex was down by over 800 points and trading below the 10,200 mark. The Nifty, too, was trading below the 3,000 mark.

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of over 200 points but immediately slipped in the negative terrain. At 1000 hrs IST the Sensex was trading at 10793 down 145 points.

The Asian markets are also trading weak.

All the BSE indices are trading in the negative terrain. The major losers are from consumer durables, metal, pharma, capital goods, FMCG and oil & gas and auto sector.

The major losers on the indices are Tata Power, Dr Reddys, Bajaj Auto, Hindalco, Nalco and Cipla.
