New Delhi: Separated conjoined twins Ram and Laxman have finally been discharged from Raipur Medical College Hospital.
The 10-month-old twins were conjoined at birth, sharing a liver and several other organs. However, the doctors at the Raipur Medical College successfully separated them on May 29.
Now the twins can stand, sit and play on their own. And their parents can hardly hide their joy.
"I am happy that now they can play on their own. We were very worried earlier,” says their mother.
Dr A S Sharma, the surgeon who headed the medical team to separate them is also a relieved man as it was after all a risky procedure. But he says, ” We are ready to take challenge coming your way.”
Doctors say Ram and Laxman have shown steady signs of recovery since their operation. The twins were discharged from the hospital on Friday.
Even the state Health Minister Dr Krishnamurty Bandhi turned up to bid the twins goodbye.
