New Delhi: A series of fashion thefts have shocked the Indian Fashion Circuit with the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week right around the corner. And going by how selective they have been about their booty, it seems the thieves are connoisseurs who know their labels.

A week ago designer Varun Bahl reported the theft of his fashion week collection from his studio in Noida. The situation has just gone from bad to worse. Two days later, on August 28, thieves struck at another designer, Varija Bajaj's unit in Sector 8 of Noida. And, next day, Tarun Tahiliani's unit in Gurgaon also reported a theft.

“What’s really surprising is that most of my new clothes are not there. The other rack had men’s wear which was untouched," Bahl.

So that’s three thefts within the span of a week. At this point in time it’s unclear whether these thefts are linked to jealous fashion rivals or thieves catering to the grey market.

"There is surely somebody who's trying to get back at me,” said Bahl.

The police are not ruling out a link between the three robberies and it seems that a number of top designers have been alerted and security has been stepped up around fashion studios and warehouses.

Will these serial fashion robberies continue and how will they affect the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week right around the corner? Stay tuned for updates.
