BANGALORE: “The purpose of Bharatiya Seva Dal will be fulfilled only when youths are empowered to fight corruption,” said freedom fighter H S Doreswamy.
He was speaking at the 123rd birth anniversary of Padma Bhushan Dr N S Hardikar on Monday. “Haridikar built Hindustan Seva Dal to fight against the British. Later, on lines of military sepoys, the Seva Dal volunteers spread the sense of national spirit and oneness among students,” Doreswamy said.
He lamented that the Seva Dal, which was formed to build the nation, was losing its prominence. He urged the state government to take necessary steps to develop Seva Dal schools.
Shivasharanappa Vali, vice-president, Bharat Seva Dal Central Committee bemoaned that the Seva Dal had failed to keep up to its theory. “Seva Dal’s role was ardent in India’s independence. It is sad that they now await government’s funds.”
