Sexually harassed law student ends life in Madhya Pradesh

Rewa: A 22-year-old law student with Rewa University, who was allegedly being sodomised by a senior since 2010, has committed suicide, varsity officials said on Tuesday.

Ajay Padhole, a final year LLB student, on Monday hanged himself from the ceiling of Chandrasekhar hostel located close to the university, they said.

He had complained to the police about being sexually harassed by Ashutosh Dwivedi, a senior who hailed from Rewa district, since the last two years, the officials said.

The student had also complained to various authorities about his plight but no action was taken to help him.

Padhole, a native of Betul district, had also complained to various authorities about his plight but no action was taken to help him, they said.

Three days back, Padhole submitted a complaint to the police in which he said that if the situation did not improve, he may be compelled to take his own life, they said. Local police were tight-lipped about the incident and refused to share any information about the case.
