Chennai: The music mascots of India, famous trio-Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy, were there to rock Chennai for a concert organised by the Shakti Foundation to raise funds.
Shankar Mahadevan, the vocalist among the trio, says, he's been to Chennia in various avatars. "I have come as a classical musician, with Mandolin Srinivaas and we have played with Shraddha, which is a jazz fusion group. I have also played with Silk which is Louis Banks' band and with Zakir Hussain. Then I have come as a Tamil film show,” says musician Shankar Mahadevan.
But this time Shankar Mahadevan teamed up with Ehsaan and Loy to captivate Chennai with their own compositions.
The musicians, who were playing for a cause, seemed to enjoy the music the most. "It's always fun to play in Chennai. This is the place where people know about music and it is an honour to play here because we always get a wonderful audience,” said Mahdevan.
Loy adds: “It is fantastic to play here. Everytime we play with different energy levels. It is always exciting.”
The trio seemed most excited about their forthcoming projects. "Well right now what we are excited about is a film called Taarein Zameen par, which is directed by Aamir Khan and I think today is the apt day to play a song from that film because it's a film about children but not just for children” says Shankar.
Besides the Aamir Khan directed Taare Zameen Par, Shankar says that there were a whole lot of exciting film their way.
“There's a film by Kunal Kohli, film with Ravi Chopra, a film with Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhthar.” He seemed excited about yet another childrens film with Amol Palekar, Bonney Kapoor and Anil Kapoor.
“We are also doing two Tamil films now,” he adds.
