Sharif says Musharraf will be prosecuted

New Delhi: Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf is facing a tough time following the elections to the National Assembly.

Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) leader Nawaz Sharif has made it clear that Musharraf will be prosecuted for his emergency proclamation last year.

The former prime minister of Pakistan was speaking in an exclusive interview to CNN-IBN's Karan Thapar.

"Somebody will have to be taken to task, after all abrogating the Constitution is not a small crime. Does it happen in India?" Nawaz said.

Karan Thapar: So legal action is being contemplated by you?

Nawaz Sharif: Well! What is the harm if any such action is initiated? I think the country has suffered enough at the hands of these dictators. We are saying repeatedly, Mr Musharraf step down - there may be a safe exit now available to you, if you don't accept the mandate and the verdict of the people of the 18th of February then you'll be at a loss.
