Mumbai: President of Mafatlal Luxury Sheetal Mafatlal was detained upon arrival at Mumbai international airport for allegedly carrying undisclosed jewellery and diamonds worth several lakhs of rupees, custom officials said on Sunday.
The jewellery and diamonds could be worth between Rs 51 lakh and Rs 1 crore, Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) sources said, adding that exact valuation is yet to be ascertained.
Acting on a tip off, the AIU officials intercepted the noted socialite at the airport and checked her bags in which the jewellery and diamonds, which was allegedly not declared were found, officials said.
She was subsequently detained and her interrogation is on, they said.
