Suman, Sinha contest on May 7 set to be close

New Delhi: Actor politician and sworn Bihari-babu, Shatrughan Sinha seems to have some competition this time from another actor-turned politician Shekhar Suman is vying for a win in the same constituency.

Both men are vying for the Patna Saheb seat.

Two sons of the soil armed with filmi lines are out to woo voters in totally Bollywood style.

The original Bihari-babu Shatrughan Sinha is locked in a contest with the comedy king of the small screen Shekhar Suman.

While Sinha was the first Bollywood actor to become a cabinet minister, Suman is just beginning his innings.

“I have been the member of the Rajya Sabha for a long time now. I was a Health Minister, Shipping Minister. My record of activism is well known,” said Sinha.

Shekhar Suman may be the novice here, but he's using an old ruse of going door to door. He sets out from his parents' house, with their blessings after a wholesome breakfast.

“I am trying to establish public contact by going door to door. I think that is a far better way to reach out to people than by giving long speeches. I try to meet people, see them in their eye,” said Suman.

They may be brothers in Bollywood but in Patna, far away from the dazzle of Mumbai, they're at war.

Shekhar Suman calls it the war of Kurukshetra where no relations hold good. Sinha terms it a decision best made by the residents and voters of Patna Sahib.

Suman has the onus of proving that he is not an outsider.

“I do not covet the tag of Bihari babu. I am happy being called a Bihari,” says Shekhar Suman.

Patna Sahib has a strong percentage of voters who belong to the Kayastha community. Both Sinha and Suman, incidentally, belong to the same community.

May 7, 2009 is set to hold a close contest for two sons of Bihar who have earned fame and livelihood in Mumbai.
