Mumbai: The entire country is shouting from the rooftops slamming the racist treatment meted out to Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty at UK’s reality show Big Brother. But Shilpa’s mother feels media is blowing the ‘racism trumpet’ too much.
"They are constantly showing her crying and sobbing on every channel. I'm sure there are plenty of other things happening in the house, not getting highlighted,” Sunanda Shetty said on Thursday.
“The only scenes they are showing are of her sobbing and I’m sure she is not sobbing all day,” she added.
The battle over racism allegations involving actress Shilpa Shetty in the show even made an impact in the House of Commons. Shilpa's family members say they are grateful for the support extended by the British Asian community.
"I'm happy that the British authorities are reacting the way they have, and that the matter is being taken up by the British Government," said Sunanda Shetty adding that the issue need not be exaggerated too much.
With support pouring in from all quarters, there is little reason why Shilpa should shed tears. “Why the hell am I crying? It's just a game, a mean, nasty game," as Shilpa had said in the confession room of the Big Brother house, it seems it's all in a game!
