New Delhi: Boman Irani and Farah Khan's 'Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi', which showcases the love story of a 40-plus couple, disappoints at the box office. The film has been produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and directed by Bela Bhansali Sehgal. After a massive promotional drive, the makers were expecting the film to open with a bang.
The film earned decent reviews from the critics. However, ‘Shirin Farhad’ opened to average 30 percent occupancy in theatres. According to the media reports, the film collected less than Rs 2 crore on the first day. On day 2, the figures went up a little and the film earned Rs 2.30 crore.
Film critic Taran Adarsh lately tweeted, "#ShirinFarhadKiTohNikalPadi didn't show any remarkable growth in its opening weekend, despite a positive word of mouth. #ShirinFarhadKiTohNikalPadi collected *approx* 6 cr to 6.25 cr nett in its opening weekend. Dull."

Gear up for a fun ride this weekend with distinct comedies like 'Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi' and 'Delhi In A Day'.

Farah Khan, Boman Irani, Kavin Dave, Shammi, Kurush Deboo and Daisy Irani are in the star cast of the film being released on August 24, 2012.

An unusual romantic-comedy, the story revolves around 45-year-old Farhad Pastakiya (Boman Irani), a Parsi bachelor, who has not found love.

One fine day he meets 40-year-old Shirin Fugawala (Farah), and he falls in love at first sight for Shirin.

But all hell breaks loose as Farhad's mother Nargis realises that her son's dream girl (Shirin) is her sworn enemy.

Co-produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Sunil A Lulla, 'Shirin Farhad' also marks the directorial debut of Bhansali's sister, Bela Sehgal.

Choreographer-turned-director turned actress Farah Khan agreed to make her acting debut with 'Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi' only once its makers agreed to remove a kissing scene from the script.

The kissing scene would have involved Farah and actor Boman Irani. But neither was Farah comfortable, nor did she think it was important.

Though the chemistry between Boman and Farah looks amazing in the trailer, Boman Irani said that enacting those scenes was not an easy task.

Boman Irani reveals that his wife Zenobia was excited to hear that Farah Khan will act opposite him in 'Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi' and urged him to say yes to the movie.

When Farah was offered the role by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, she took it casually and said yes thinking the film would never go on floors.

Boman Irani's presence as a co-star helped Farah feel comfortable about the film.

Farah Khan says that she was always confident that Bhansali and his sister Bela Seghal will make a nice movie.

Let's wait and watch, whether this unusual love story manages to attract the audiences or not.

'Delhi In A Day', a dark comedy about the nouveau riche in Delhi is also being released this week.

'Delhi In A Day' revolves around the Bhatia family residing in a palatial mansion in south Delhi.

Lillete Dubey, Lee Williams, Anjali Patil, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Vidya Bhushan and Victor Banerjee are in the star cast of the film.

It is a comedic portrayal of upper-class Delhi society, examining class differences in the context of a nouveau-riche, contemporary Delhi family home.

Directed by Indian-origin filmmaker Prashant Nair, the film has done well in the international festival circuit.

'Delhi In A Day' is being released by PVR Director's Rare and Blue Line Media.

\'Shirin Farhad\' opened to average 30 percent occupancy in theatres and earned less than Rs 2 crore on the first day.
Choreographer turned director Farah Khan made her acting debut with ‘Shirin Farhad’. Her Bollywood friends can’t stop praising her performance in the film on Twitter, but this didn’t really impress the audiences.
Despite good performances and publicity why ‘Shirin Farhad’ failed to grab eyeballs? The reason is pretty evident. Rather than watching an unconventional love story, the audiences preferred to be glued to the Salman Khan magic. Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan’s ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ is still going great guns at the box office. With an impressive second week, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ has earned more than Rs 175 crore at the box office so far. Salman Khan has once again proved that the critic ratings don’t matter for his films.
Now, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Joker’ is all set to be released on August 30, 2012. Do you think ‘Joker’ can beat ‘Tiger’ in the box office battle?
