Khandwa: Two millionaire families – Ahujas and Gehlots – were locked in a court battle over two-and-a-half month old Shiv, who was found abandoned in a rail compartment at Khandwa railway station.
The Khandwa district court in Madhya Pradesh gave the custody to the Ahujas, saying the family did not have a male child.
The abandoned Shiv now has a home and proud parents.
The two-and-a-half month old was known till Wednesday afternoon as just Shiv, now he has a second name – he is now Shiv Ahuja.
Shiv is now the heir to the Ahuja's millions and his new family is ecstatic.
“I'm very happy today. I have found a son and my daughters have found a brother,” said Shiv's Father Bhagwandas Ahuja.
“We have daughters but no son. We wanted Shiv to be our son. We will bring him up well,” said Shiv's Mother Anjana Ahuja.
But the last two and half months were not easy for either Shiv or the Ahujas.
Shiv was found abandoned in a train at Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa station and taken to hospital by a Good Samaritan.
Then began a legal battle to adopt him between the Ahujas and the Gehlots – both millionaires and both without an heir to their family name and their fortune, till it was settled on Wednesday by a local court.
“The Ahuja family doesn't have any male child. Even their extended family has all girl children. So if a male child is given, it would be justice to them,” said Ahuja Family lawyer Manish Gupta.
The boy is now being given a full medical check up in a local hospital and his new family prepares a grand welcome for him when he finally gets home.
