New Delhi: The Iraqi TV journalist who threw his shoe at former US president George Bush could walk free on Monday.
The single action of throwing his shoe at the then US president transformed Muntadhar al-Zaidi into an icon for the Arab world.
Bush was unhurt but it deeply embarrassed his host, Iraqi Prime Minister Nour al-Maliki.
Al-Zaidi was sentenced to three years in prison, later reduced to 12 months of which he has completed nine.
His family's home in Baghdad wore a festive look with flags, balloons and posters lauding him as the man who regained Iraq's dignity.
Al-Zaidi is expected to return to his job in a small Iraqi TV station.
