Mumbai: With Eid just a few days away, the Mohammad Ali road in Mumbai has become the epicentre of activity even late at night.

There is no stopping and business is brisk for Azim Khan who sells religious caps during the holy month of Ramzan. His business gets even better as Eid approaches.

Azim’s throat is hoarse from all the hard selling. But he says it's worth it.

"My voice is gone from all the selling. I've been selling for the last four to five days,” a hawker, Azim Khan said.

If you look at the streets in Bhendi Bazaar, it is difficult to tell the time at 0000 hrs IST at night. The place is always buzzing with the sounds of sellers selling their wares and buyers making counter offers.

Undeterred by the traffic or the late hours, the customers are almost everywhere. They're pouring into the street in search of that perfect shirt, cap or fragrance.

Abdulla, the owner of a perfume shop says business is most profitable during Ramzan 30 days.

"Income is high during this month. I make enough money to take care of household expenses,” Abdulla says.

Business is so good for the traders that garment vendor Wasim Khan, comes to Bhendi Bazaar every year from Lucknow.

"Profit is between Rs 20,000 to 25,000 Eid and Deepavali are together this year,” Wasim says.

And as for the customers, they are more than happy to be able to shop till late.

"I’ve come all the way from Bandra just to buy things that are very different,” a customer, Rubina Jamk

The crowds will only get thicker as Eid approaches. After a month of fasting and abstinence, it's now time to go all out.
