Click to play videoSrinagar: In yet another twist to the Shopian double rape-murder case, the judge who probed the case has taken a U-turn, disowning parts of the report that questioned the character of one of the victim's family members.
Justice Jan has now said his report did not make any reference to the victims' family. He has claimed that some pages were “mischievously attached” to his report without his knowledge.
“I have not made any reference on the family. I have made no remark that suggests to defame them. Please read my report. I feel pained about what has been done to the report,” he says.
He said the information about the family feud was not required to solve the case. The report had questioned the behaviour of the brother and husband of Neelofar - one of the victims.
The latest twist has only added fuel to fire.
The Shopian advisory body that's leading the agitation over the issue has called the Jan report a conspiracy to bail out Omar Abdullah government.
It has accused the commission of “character assassination of the victims and husband of Neelofar, one of the murdered women''.
Clearly, Omar Abdullah will have much to answer for in the coming days.
