New Delhi: All that glitters is gold; this very belief is marked by the Hindu festival of Dhanteras. It is celebrated two days prior to Diwali. It is an auspicious occasion to purchase precious metals like gold and silver.
The markets may have crashed and stocks may have fallen but that isn’t stopping people from going on a shopping spree.
And with the gold prices having come down from Rs14000 to 12000 within a fortnight, this Dhanteras certainly promises to bring lots of shine to the jewellers’ business as well.
"The gold prices have come down and Dhanteras is considered auspicious so expecting a good movement,” says vice-president Gold Souk Ashish Gupta.
This has led to a shopping spree across the country and the trend seems to have delighted both the shoppers and the retailers equally. The jewellers as well as the consumer durable retailers now hope that this might set the mood for a good Diwali.
