New Delhi: A fire broke out in the All India Institute for Medical Sciences late on Thursday night.
A short circuit in the X-ray section of the Cardio and Neuro-surgery department at 0107 hrs IST and forced authorities to evacuate the 300-odd patients in the area.
No casualities have been reported.
At least 15 fire tenders were called in and it took the fire department about three hours to declare the situation was under control.
Families of patients admitted in the two departments spent the night looking for information as patients were moved to other emergency wards.
Deputy fire officer, Delhi, Santok Singh said that everything was under control and that no casualities have been reported.
However, some x-ray machines and other equipments were destroyed in the blaze.
Investigations were on to ascertain the cause of fire.
