Hyderabad: India's top women's badminton player Saina Nehwal arrived in Hyderabad on Monday morning to a quiet reception.
No Badminton Association of India (BAI) official was present at the airport despite her credible performance in the World Super Series Masters Final in Malaysia.
"It is not my work to say people should come and give a big reception to any of the badminton players. It is just that people should have a lot of interest in badminton and I am sure it will happen with the results and if I really make some big results next year like winning some tournament. I am sure then there will be many people coming," said Saina about he reception.
Saina made it to the semi-finals of the women's singles before losing to Cheng Wang of Hong Kong on Saturday.
The world No. 10 Indian had qualified for the last by grabbing the last place after beating two big competitors on the same day - Wong Mew Choo and Hongyan Pi - in Group B.
The Beijing Olympics Games quarter-finalist will next play in the Malaysian Super Series and the Korean Super Series in January next year.
