Mumbai: A non-cognisable offence has been registered against singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya for allegedly threatening to beat a person and abusing him in Lokhandwala area in suburban Andheri, police said on Monday.

The signer had given his flat on rent in a building which was objected to by the housing society. The housing society said the flat occupant's presence was causing inconvenience to the building's residents, police said.

On Sunday, a meeting was held where the society chairman, identified only as Siddiqui, brought the issue to Abhijeet's notice, a senior Inspector told PTI.

A furious Abhijeet allegedly abused and threatened the housing society chairman who lodged a police complaint, he said.
