New Delhi: Indian singer Jasbir Jassi has performed at the 65th Cannes International Fil Festival. The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) had selected Jassi to perform at the Incredible India theme party which at Cannes on May 21. Apparently, the singer was preparing for the event since last eighteen months.
"I have always wanted to make my presence felt in the global music arena and this is a turning point," said Jassi, who is the first Punjabi singer to sing at the prestigious film festival. He sees the event as a platform to educate the global audience about 'real Indian music' that is rich with soul-stirring poetry soaked in rhythm and melody. "I want to tell people that our music is unmatched and we can touch hearts by singing songs with just a harmonium as an accompaniment," added Jassi.
To make the show a memorable one, the singer had given the programme a Sufi flavor, which he had been rehearsing for a couple of months.
