Kolkata: It's that time of the year when you say "ho ho ho", sing Jingle Bells aloud.
In Kolkata, a group of little children are helping adults remember carol lines and swing to traditional Christmas tunes, getting all set to welcome the arrival of Santa Claus.
Ten-year-old Sheetal, along with children from four other countries, including Finland and Switzerland - all of whom are from a children's organisation, Family International - are trying to spread the festive spirit by singing Christmas carols.
And far from being nervous, these children are simply loving the spotlight.
Says Sheetal, "I like to bring in the message and the real meaning of Christmas to people and I like performing for people. It's the best part of Christmas."
This year, the group will perform at a dozen venues across Kolkata including orphanages, churches and even hotels.
And preparations for the events began a month in advance. Breaking the traditional mould, the carols have been carefully choreographed with an Indian touch, to add to the spirit of togetherness.
Says Programme co-ordinator, Chris Khiyae, "We try to bring the flavour of different countries. We have some Spanish songs and then we have Indianised some songs so that they appeal to Indians ."
Now that's surely in tune with the true spirit of Christmas - bringing everyone together with merry melodies.
