SIT for conditional release of boat

KOLLAM: The SIT has given the green signal for a conditional release of the boat involved in the Enrica Lexie firing case.
In the report submitted before the Kollam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Tuesday following boat owner J Freddy’s petition, the SIT had  informed
the court that strict conditions must be set for the release.
Fearing tampering of bullet marks in the boat, which is a vital evidence in the case, the SIT wants Freddy to swear before the court that no tampering or damage will be made in the bullet marks during its maintenance.
Freddy also needs to give an assurance that he will produce the boat whenever asked for during the trial, the report says.
Another condition  is to record the bullet marks in the presence of a Magistrate. The report leaves an option for Freddy to take away the boat after detaching the parts which sustained bullet marks.
The boat is in the custody of Coastal Police Station, Neendakara. The court is likely to pronounce the order on the petition on
Thursday.
