KOZHIKODE: In a record time of 90 days, the Special Investigation Team headed by Assistant Commissioner Jossy Cherian, probing the case of lynching of Shaheed Bava at Kodiyathoor in Kozhikode, submitted the chargesheet before Thamarassery Judicial First Class Magistrate Court-2 on Monday.
Shaheed Bava, 27, was beaten to death by a mob, allegedly in an act of ‘moral policing’.
According to police, it has been proved clear that the murder was pre-planned by a 15-member group, all natives of Kodiyathoor.
The charge sheet has been submitted in the stipulated time so that those arrested for the murder would remain in judicial custody and would not get bail automatically after 90 days of their arrest. Police are yet to arrest one more person, Fayiz, 24, of Arimbra, who is absconding in the case.
“The lookout notice has been issued for Fayiz who fled to the Gulf after the incident and would arrest him when he arrives the state,” said Assistant Commissioner Jossy Cherian. According to postmortem reports, a severe blow on the head caused the death of Shaheed Bava.
