New Delhi: Missing Bollywood starlet Laila Khan's death may finally have been cracked. Six skeletons were found within the premises of her bungalow in Igatpuri near Nashik in Maharashtra on Tuesday.
With the shocking recovery of the skeletons, the Mumbai Crime Branch seems to have made a definitive headway in the mystery surrounding the starlet and her family members, who went missing over an year ago.
The starlet's mother's alleged second husband and key accused in the case, Parvez Tak was arrested recently by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and handed over to the Maharashtra Police. The Mumbai Crime Branch, however, said that Tak was constantly changing his statements in the case. Although he said he murdered the starlet and her family members, he did not reveal how and where.
The skeletons recovered at the Nashik bungalow are believed to be Laila Khan's and her family's. A forensic analysis report, however, is awaited.
Meanwhile, Laila's father Nadir Shah Patel is on his way to Nashik to give his DNA sample for the DNA finger printing test.
With the recovery, the crime branch is likely to register a case of murder against Tak and one Shakir Hussain, who allegedly helped him in the murders.
Further arrests in the case are not ruled out. Joint CP (Crime) Himanshu Roy is expected to conduct a press conference on Wednesday.
