Skipper Bravo all praise for Charles, brother Darren

Guyana: West Indies notched up a comfortably 37-run win against Pakistan in the second ODI on Tuesday to draw level in the five-match series at home, and skipper Dwayne Bravo credited the win to the foundation laid by his brother Darren Bravo and opener Johnson Charles.

Put in to bat by Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq, West Indies lost star batsman Chris Gayle early, but Darren (54) and Charles (31) added 79 runs for the second wicket to avoid any top-order collapse.

"We lost Chris Gayle early, but the innings my younger brother played with Johnson Charles laid the foundation for us. We know we bat very deep and we have a good lower order. It was not a 250-260 wicket. Our aim was to try and get 235. We knew we had the bowling attack to restrict Pakistan on that sort of wicket, which will play slow and low as the game progresses," said the West Indies skipper.

West Indies beat Pakistan by 37-runs in the second ODI on Tuesday to draw level at 1-1 in the five-match series.

Bravo was also impressed with Charles, who had to perform the dual role of a wicketkeeper-batsman after Denesh Ramdin was dropped from the side. "With Johnson playing that role, it gave us an opportunity to lengthen our batting. We know our batting has been a bit on the shaky side and inconsistent ... But so far, Johnno has been doing a fantastic job," he said.

The hosts, though, did suffer a stutter in the middle order, but Dwayne (43*) and allrounder Kieron Pollard (30) rescued the side to reach a competitive 232 for 8. Mystery spinner Sunil Narine then put in a fine performance taking 4 for 26 in his 10 overs to make the series 1-1.

The spinner had a poor outing in the first ODI, but said he varied his pace on Tuesday to get the desired results. "I just bowled a little quicker because on this pitch some were staying low and some were bouncing, so it was not an easy pitch," he said after the match.
