Chhindwara: Anil Rai, General Secretary of the Madhya Pradesh unit of the Bhartiya Janshakti Party, who was slapped twice by his party president Uma Bharti resigned from his post on Wednesday evening.
Rai told to reporters he resigned due to disgust at the manner in which he had been treated by Bharati.
After the slapping incident, the two had jointly appealed at a press conference where they said the relationship between them was like that of a brother and a sister.
However, Rai later announced his decision to resign from his post and said that he will continue to abide by the directives of Prahlad Patel who heads the breakaway fraction of the Janshakti Party.
