Mumbai: Veteran actor Pankaj Kapur is busy shooting for his popular satire Office Office these days. But this time around there is a difference.
The shoot is no longer for the television, Office Office is the name of a movie which is currently underproduction and promises to cater to a larger audience with a big screen release.
“Bigger drama, bigger scale but at the end it is Office Office. It has got the same elements as the serial and the people will associate with it,” says actor Pankaj Kapur.
Also in the pipeline are big screen versions of sit-coms like Khichdi and Shekhar Suman's popular show from the mid-90's Dekh Bhai Dekh.
“I think enjoying moments is also a great way to tell stories, every episode of Dekh Bhai Dekh was a story. This time the story will be two hours long and it will have a lot of music,” says Dekh Bhai Dekh’s director Anand Mahendroo.
While the cinematic versions of these shows will retain the original stars, look out for Shekhar Suman's son Adhyayan Suman who will make an appearance in the filmi version of Dekh Bhai Dekh.
“I use to go on the sets when I was eight and I use to see all of them perform. I now realize it was so great to see them work especially my dad and now I'm a part of their team so I'm a bit nervous,” says Adhyayan.
“It will be fun to play father son on the big screen since I am playing a father for the first time and hopefully for the last time,” says Shekhar.
Whether these hit television shows repeat their success at the box office remains to be seen but for now the cast is busy enjoying this reunion of sorts.
“Dekh Bhai Dekh has been very special for all of us. We are very excited. The other day I told Anandji we had the audience we should have made the film long time ago,” says actor Farida Jalal.
