Mumbai:There's reason to celebrate in Chandigarh and Rajasthan. Their home makers have walked away with the Gladrags Mrs India crowns.

The winner, Madhavi Awasthi is a home maker from Chandigarh. The first runner up is 37-year-old Tannu Singh, a housewife from a small town Rajasthan, while the second runner up is Yukti Mehendiratta from Delhi.

“I feel so glamorous. I am feeling like a celebrity today,” beamed Tannu. “I am out of words. I still can’t believe I’ve won the crowd,” said a happy Madhavi. Yukti added, “It feels great. Being a part of the top 22 was an honour in itself.”

Just before the final round, actor John Abraham's appearance on stage eased the tension for the contestants.

Staying true to celebrating the spirit of motherhood, the contest included two super moms—Malaika Arora Khan and Mahima Chaudhary—in the panel of judges. Malaika, in fact, turned out to be quite a fan of the winners.

“I don’t think I am cut out for a contest. As far as possible, I star far away because I don’t think I can go up there and do what they do. I mean it takes a lot of guts and confidence to do that,” said Malaika.

With a couple of glamorous performances, the Mrs India contest turned out to be fun, and the contestants sure came as a pleasant surprise.

But with so many pageants coming up, the Mrs Indias will sure have an uphill task in finding their foothold beyond this contest.
