New Delhi: Ever since Sony asked Aibo the dog to play dead, the Japanese have been looking for another robot to play with. And guess what – they have found a fish to replace man's best friend.
Japanese scientists are ready with the latest upgrade to a robot fish, one that can possibly fit in your garden pond.
Its red spots may look strange but the robot fish can swish around in your pond just like the real thing.
The robo fish is the baby of Ryomei Giken and two other Mitsubishi companies.
Their scientists have been working on robotic fish since '99. And this hi-tech carp geared with a CCD camera and sensors can actually make moves that a real Koi cannot dream of like swimming in reverse.
"We hope to develop the robot so it can research live fish as it is unlikely to scare them away and will be able to swim with them." Tetsuo Ichikizaki, Chief, Plant Technics, Ryomei Giken Co says.
This 32-inch and 12 kilo robo fish cost the researchers a whopping $255,000. But your pool may have to wait a while, the manufacturers don't have any plans of marketing it just yet. They intend to wait and gauge the demands first.
