New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi met Prime Minister Manmohan at his residence in New Delhi on Tuesday evening to discuss the impending Cabinet reshuffle. Sources say that the two leaders agreed that the time had come to reshuffle to Union Ministry to carry forward the reforms momentum.
Sources say that both Sonia and Manmohan are in favour of dropping the underperformers and controversial ministers while those holding more than one portfolio could lose the additional charge. The reshuffle is expected in the next few days.
Sources say Sonia could meet Manmohan once again. After the end of Sonia-Manmohan meeting, Finance Minister P Chidambaram reached 7 Race Course Road to meet the Prime Minister.
Sources say that the two leaders agreed that the time had come to reshuffle to Union Ministry to carry forward the reforms momentum.
However, the big four - Chidambaram, Defence Minister AK Antony, Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and External Affairs Minister SM Krishna - will stay.
