Sonia the hostess will have to provide the right recipe to keep together these ingredients of disintegration.
- An assurance to allies that for now divestments and other controversial economic decisions will be on hold.
- Frequent meetings with allies on major policy issues. Till now, the Left enjoyed the advantage of being heard out.
- Congress leaders will meet allies individually to find out what troubles them Ahmed Patel will meet NCP and Southern allies. Pranab will continue to concentrate on the Left.
With the Monsoon parliament session promising to be a stormy one, Congress could do with all the help from allies.
The Congress is planning to work big on coalition dharma and improve ties with each of them.
Maybe the party could learn a lesson from the BJP, which asserted itself without ruffling its allies.
