New Delhi: A former junior national wrestling champion has alleged that Haryana Police officials shot at him, who mistook him for a wanted criminal. The incident took place on November 28 near Sonipat.
Gurpal Singh, son of a Punjab SP, also claimed that the police arrived at the hospital and admitted that the shooters were policemen. "It is shocking to know that the police open fired. Without any warning we were shot at and most of the shots were aimed at my neck and head region," said Gurpal.
Gurpal claimed that he was travelling with his friends in a car when they were stopped by two armed men who fired at them when they tried to flee from the scene.
However, the state police has denied it and registered a case against unknown persons. Sonipat SP Rakam Singh said, "The matter is being investigated. We will not let the culprit get away with this act."
