New Delhi: Sony Mobile India has launched its much-awaited Xperia S handset in Indian at a price of Rs 32,549. The Sony Xperia S is Sony's first smartphone under its brand name Sony Mobile Communications, after Sony acquired Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson's ("Ericsson") 50 per cent stake in the pair's former joint venture Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB ("Sony Ericsson").
The phone features a 4.3 inch scratch-resistant TFT touchscreen with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. It runs Google Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system (upgradable to Android 4, Ice Cream Sandwich).
The Xperia S is powered by a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor, and flaunts a 12.1 megapixel camera with auto focus, 16x digital zoom and LED flash. It also has a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera. The phone has 1GB RAM.

Sony has introduced four new phones in the Indian market, which include the Xperia S, Xperia P, Xperia U and Xperia Sola. All the phones run Android 2.3 operating system.

Though four phones were unveiled, but the company has currently launched only the Xperia S at a price of Rs 32,549. All other phones will be available in Q2.

The Xperia S features a 4.3 inch scratch-resistant TFT touchscreen with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. It runs Android 2.3 OS (upgradable to Android 4).

The Xperia S is powered by a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor. It has 1GB RAM. The phone has an internal storage space of 32GB.

The Xperia S flaunts a 12.1 megapixel camera with auto focus, 16x digital zoom and LED flash. It also has a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera.

The phone is available in two colours - White and Black. Other key features include WiFi and WiFi Hotspot functionality, HDMI Support, DLNA certified and NFC. The phone is also PlayStation certified.

The Xperia P was also unveiled. It has a 4 inch scratch-resistant TFT touchscreen, and is powered by 1 GHz dual-core processor. It flaunts an 8 megapixel camera.

The Xperia U has a 3.5 inch scratch-resistant TFT screen. It features a 5 megapixel rear camera. The phone is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor.

The Xperia Sola has a 3.7 inch scratch-resistant TFT touchscreen. The phone will be available in three colours - black, white and red. It has a 5 megapixel camera with auto focus.

The handset was first showcased at Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year.
Besides, Sony also unveiled the Xperia P, Xperia U and Xperia Sola handsets, which will be available to consumers in Q2 of this year.
