New Delhi: Months after the sensational and unsolved murder of TV journalist Soumya Vishwanathan, the Delhi Police is yet again facing another blind murder case. Irrespective of whether the police solve it or not, this murder has underlined the security and safety concerns of women working late shifts in the national capital.
Twenty-eight-year-old Jigisha Ghosh, an operation manager with a call centre in Noida, was missing for almost a week. On Friday she was found dead on the outskirts of Delhi.
The girl was last seen by her family on March 17 when she left for work.
According to the police, Jigisha’s office cab dropped her outside her apartment block in the wee hours of March 18 morning. Immediately after that a 25 minute call was made from her cell phone to a friend. However, Jigisha never reached home.
The family filed a complaint with the Vasant Vihar police station on March 19 and on March 20 the Faridabad Police found the girl’s body about 30 kilometer from her house.
“She didn’t come home on March 18 so they called her boss. He told that she was dropped home. She was murdered elsewhere and only her body was dumped here,” says SI, Haryana Police, Raj Singh.
The Delhi Police have registered a case of kidnapping and murder and is questioning the cab driver and Jigisha's friends and colleagues in connection with the murder. The police said that the body didn't have any external injuries, however the autopsy report is awaited.
