The Tamil remake of Naseeruddin Shah starrer A Wednesday, Unnaippol Oruvan, will see Kamal Hassan and Mohanlal ---unite onscreen. While Haasan will be donning Shah's role, Mohanlal will reprise Anupam Kher's act. And between the two they've already got a mutual admiration club going.
Kamal Hassan says, “I always imagined it should be like this-working with Mohanlal and working with him, I was not surprised. It was exactly as I imagined it would be. Absolutely comfortable, no nonsense. It was like we had a conversation….”
Meanwhile, Mohanlal says, “He's (Kamal) got the passion, he's got an amazing passion for films and definitely it'll reflect on the film.”
The actors go on to clarify that it was the script that brought them together. But considering these two biggies are sharing the screen space and since this one's a remake; expectations from the film are naturally high.
Hassan says, “Oh yes, And it doesn't matter. If I do better then it's good, if I don't it's fine, because he's (Shah) a very good actor. So that's fine, so it's a good bet, it's like a win-win situation.”
“It's like a painting, if you do it for the second time, it'll be different. It'll be like watching a thing, that difference will be there, but particularly we don't want to bring such an impact and do better, nothing like that, we've done our role in our style,” says Mohanlal.
But how will a South Indian audience take to a film, that has terror as its back drop?
Hassan says, "You have gangrene in your leg, you think your head is safe?
Quite Right. The film also sees Hassan's daughter Shruti Hassan, make her debut as a music director. And her producer father justifies his choice.
Shruti Hassan says, “The film demands a certain type of music and I guess that's where I step in and it's not about you know the duets and love songs, I love those, but they're not my forte, I'm more of an independent alternative kind of musician and I think the director felt that that's something that could work with the story.
