SP leader's ultimatum to Mulayam over Kalyan

UNI

Lucknow: Annoyed Samajwadi party leader Mohammad Azam Khan has given a week's ultimatum to party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav to take back his words saying that former BJP leader Kalyan Singh was innocent in the demolition of Babri Masjid.

Khan, who has revolted against the party leadership after Mr Kalyan Singh joined hands with the Samajwadi Party, on Tuesday held a meeting of Muslim clerics at his residence here during which the ultimatum was given.

The clerics, during the meeting, observed that Muslims were saddened after SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav embraced Kalyan Singh, a mascot of the BJP in the Ayodhya demolition.

''Samajwadi Party was the real home for all the Muslims of the country but this act of Yadav had really created doubt among us about his credibility to fight for the community'', they said.

Asking the SP supremo to clarify his stand within a week on his statement that Kalyan Singh is innocent in the Babri demolition, Khan in a statement here said that Muslims have been neglected by all parties and now SP was doing the same.
