THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In view of the upcoming 35th National Games, the proposed greenfield stadium on the Kariavattom campus of the Kerala University has been notified as a special labour zone, so as to ensure smooth and speedy completion of works in an environment free of strikes.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here on Thursday that the cabinet has decided to entrust the overseeing of the work with a deputy labour commissioner.
Statues of Sathyan, Nazir
The cabinet has sanctioned a sum of ` 10 lakh each for installing the statues of Sathyan and Prem Nazir, noted Malayalam yesteryear actors, in the city. Chandy said the assistance is based on the requests made on behalf of the Foundations of the respective actors. The location of the statues and other formalities will be decided after consultations, he added.
