Speculation rife over Priyanka's role in Cong campaign; party denies reports

New Delhi: Speculation is rife over 's role in the Congress for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. This comes as sources indicate that Priyanka Gandhi is likely to campaign for the Congress in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, not just in Uttar Pradesh, but in other states too. Sources have indicated that the Congress is looking at using Priyanka Gandhi's charisma for the 2014 polls.

Sources also indicate that Priyanka may campaign in Madhya Pradesh ahead of assembly polls in the state too. Priyanka is likely to hold a rally in Madhya Pradesh in October, say sources.

Priyanka is also likely to continue to focus on Uttar Pradesh. The Congress and the Gandhi family, however, have outrightly denied such reports. "We are denying the news of Priyanka Gandhi to campaign for 2014 general elections," Congress spokesperson Ajay Maken said.

But the BJP has reacted to the reports. "A party which believes in its dynastic policies is talking about another Gandhi. She has even extensively campaigned during UP assembly elections and we have seen the result," said BJP spokesperson Nirmala Seetharaman.

In September, Priyanka, along with her brother and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi held a closed door meeting with party workers in Rahul's parliamentary constituency Amethi.

She had campaigned for the Congress in Bellary in 1999. Speculation is now rife if this is Priyanka Gandhi's entry into politics and whether she will contest elections in 2014.
