New Delhi: A case has been filed against star India batsman Sachin Tendulkar for reportedly dishonouring the national flag during the team's stay in the West Indies during the World Cup.

Bhartiya Janshakti (BJS) leader Rajesh Bidkar filed the case under the Prevention of Insult to the National Honour Act of 1971 in the court of Judicial Magistrate Uday Singh Marahwi in Indore.

The court has announced April 13 as the date of the hearing after taking cognizance of the complaint, Bidkar's advocate Rajendra Sharma said on Wednesday.

Television channels across the country showed images of Tendulkar about to cut a cake in the colours of the national flag at an event organised by the Indian High Commissioner to Jamaica.

Rajesh Bidkar also submitted the footage of the incident along with his report to the court to support his complaint.

A legal notice was yesterday sent to Tendulkar demanding an unconditional apology for dishonouring the flag.

Tendulkar has been under fire since India's first round exit from the World Cup, after he came out with a statement against then coach Greg Chappell. The BCCI has asked him to explain his actions.
