New Delhi: The Big Fat Indian wedding that became the toast of Mumbai’s party circuit an created waves in Jodhpur finally culminated on Friday with British model and actress Elizabeth Hurley and Indian businessman Arun Nayar tying the knot at Umaid Bhawan.
Nayar arrived at the hotel at the head of a symbolic marriage procession, wearing an off-white Jodhpuri suit and sitting on a black mare. More than 10 horses and a couple of decorated camels were part of the procession that started from the palace's Lancer Lawns.
All the baratis wore traditional Rajasthani dresses with saffron turbans. Hurley wore an off-white 'lehanga-chuni' and gold ornaments.
Both Hurley and Nayar's outfits were designed by Rohit Bal.
On Thursday, it was the sangeet at the Nagaur Fort and there was the endless list of celebrities who attended the function including Bollywood actress Priety Zinta with boyfriend Ness Wadia.
The couple, united in a civil marriage in Britain's Sudeley Castle on March 3, walked around the sacred fire seven times at the Museum Courtyard amidst the chanting of Vedic hymns by five priests led by Lalit Trivedi.
On Saturday, the couple and Hurley's four-year-old son Damian were spotted at the Jodhpur Airport before they flew out of the city.
