Mumbai; With a new season coming up, it's time to spring clean the wardrobe with a little bit of help from designers.

While Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna's mantra for Spring Summer is a combination of easy going silhouettes, embellished for evening wear, Varun Bahl has something new for this year's brides, a bit of unexpected fusion.

“As you can see none of my motives are really very Indian and if they are there is something which is combined with the Elizabethan era with it. And the use of colour there is an English green, colours like duck egg blue and dirty yellows which is combinations of such colours,” says Designer Varun Bahl.

The clothes may be a bit over-the -top, but are designers now compelled to double check the price tags, given the current global economic slowdown.

“For us really it hasn't made a difference, because spending 5, 7, 8 thousand doesn't really pinch a person- to the clientele we are catering to. But spending a huge amount like a lakh, 2 lakhs one really needs to plan and consider. Not really with the recession, but what happened in Bombay has made a difference to the moods of the people,” says designer, Rohit Gandhi.

“It has not affected the bridal market at all, not me.Indians will borrow money and spend on weddings, That's how important a wedding is in India,” says designer, Rohit Gandhi.

Looks like the big fat Indian wedding could come to the rescue for the fashion industry.
