New Delhi: Indian sprinter Manjeet Kaur is gearing up for the Beijing Olympics which are just three weeks away.
In times, when athletes complain of the lack of funds for training, Kaur was helped by real estate company Omaxe to prepare for the Olympics. She has been given Rs 34 lakh to train under American coach Cedric Hill in California.
The sponsorship helped her in the run-up to the games and will also support her through to the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
Kaur has already made a mark at international by winning gold (women’s 4X 400 relay) and silver medal (400m) at the 2006 Doha Asian Games and silver at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games.
She also participated at the 2004 Athens Olympics and was conferred upon Arjuna Award recently for her rare and outstanding achievements.
