Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan can finally breathe easy as his forthcoming film Billu, which has been a lot in news due to the title controversy, doused all the controversies with the barbers. The film now opens smoothly this Friday.
Shah Rukh Khan's Billu was in the eye of a storm as the actor and producer of the Irrfan Khan and Lara Dutta starrer was forced to strike out the word barber from his movie's title after Saloon and Beauty Parlours Association raised objections citing that the word barber was offensive.
Despite this, rumours were doing the rounds that the barbers are still unhappy with the film and SRK was quick to move again. He called for a press conference in his house Mannat with the officials of the Barber Association sitting beside him. He put a full stop to all the controversies related to the title of the movie.
However, SRK still did not admit that he did anything wrong in choosing the title.
"I still don't feel I did anything wrong by using the title 'barber' because I didn't use it to show anyone down. Maybe jinpe beeti hai unhi ko pata chalta hai (People who've experienced it know better)," he said.
"To be very honest whenever something like this happens, people make a big deal about it but they dint, they were quite decent about it," he added.
The Barber's Association too hailed SRK's move but did not let go of the opportunity to express their discontent over the title.
"Billu shabdh jo hai (the word Billu is there). Here we are staying in a metropolitan city so we don't realise, but back in villages people have started calling our people Billu, Billu ka bacha,"said Saloon and Beauty Parlours Association's DR Saurabh.
"Yeh naam kehkar chidane lage hai (They've started teasing with these names.) That is why we requested Khan sahib (sir) that please remove 'barber' from the title so that it's a bit better for us," he added.
Well with all problems sorted out and the anticipated Billu hitting the theatres this Friday, we can safely say that all's well that ends well.
