Day 1: Stars dazzle at Lakme Fashion Week

Mumbai: The Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai was kickstarted with heavy bollywood star power as the young guns of the tinsel town turned more heads than designers.

Some of the stars who were seeing at the show were - Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Asin, Anushka Sharma, Vidya Balan, Ritesh Deshmukh etc.

However, the highlight of the day was Katrina Kaif dolled up as Barbie by designer Neeta Lulla's daughter Nishka.

“It is a lot of fun. This is such a wonderful association,” says Katrina.

Of course the runway was also dotted by stars, Minnisha Lamba walked the ramp for designer Archana Kochhar, while Genelia Dsouza and Tushar Kapoor did the honours for Manish Malhotra.

Every star in the room swore allegiance to their favourite clothesmen.

“As always Manish was at his best. He was superb,” says Anushka.

“Sabya is one of the most original and fabulous designer,” says actor Sonam Kapoor.

With stars hogging all the limelight on opening night, one can only hope the clothes and the men and women who make them will get equal prominence in the week ahead.
