Mumbai: General Elections 2009 is on everyone's mind and while almost all the A-list stars endorsed the need to exercise the right to vote - including Shah Rikh Khan, Preity Zinta and Aamir Khan - ironically almost all them will not be in the country during the scheduled poll dates.
Aamir Khan is already in the US on a two-month holiday, but the actor will be back in Mumbai for just one day to cast his vote.
"After a long time, I am going for a vacation with my family and children, but the elections just happen to fall inbetween my vacation, so I will be coming back only for a day to vote and will join them after that," says he.
Shah Rukh Khan is already in South Africa for upcoming the IPL series but King Khan has also promised to return on election day in Mumbai to exercise his right to vote.
Like SRK, Preity Zinta and Boman Irani too are scheduled to be in South Africa on April 30, the day Mumbai goes to vote and both the actors have promised to return to queue up at polling booths on D-day.
"I wouldn't come to India for one day if elections weren't important to me," Preity Zinta says.
"Aamir Khan will be flying back after a holiday he has taken after so many years with his children. But he will fly back to India just for that one day and then go back. I am in South Africa - not very far away - and I will come back to vote. And I urge every single citizen of this country to vote. Please don't miss the opportunity to vote," adds Boman Irani.
Well for once celebrities seem to be putting their money where their mouth is.
