New Delhi: Suryanarayana – the Indian engineer abducted and killed by Taliban militia in Afghanistan – was cremated in hometown Hyderabad with full state honours on Tuesday morning.
His wife Manjula is still in the Intensive Care Unit of a private hospital, grappling with the dual shock of her husband’s death and another woman claiming to be the engineer’s second wife. She is yet to know of her husband's cremation.
The widow of slain telecom engineer Suryanarayana, tried to kill herself late on Monday evening just hours before his body was brought to Hyderbad for last rites.
On coming to know of a woman, claiming to be the second wife of the slain engineer, depressed Manjula allegedly consumed phenyl and swooned, police sources said.
She was rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment and was in the intensive care unit.
