New Delhi: A nine-minute video clip of a closed-door meeting between Praja Rajyam President Chiranjeevi and IT professionals has sent the mega star’s fledgling party into a tizzy.
The Telugu star-turned-politician is in the eye of a storm after local TV channels aired visuals of the meeting. The video was first posted on the Internet by an unknown person, and the links sent to media houses.
The comments Chiranjeevi is seen making in the meeting have caused embarrassment to his party.
In the video clip, Chiranjeevi is seen saying, “We should be wary of politicians willing to join Praja Rajyam party. We cannot trust them.”
Chiranjeevi is also seen asking his techie fans to spy on other political parties ahead of the Andhra Assembly polls.
In the same breath he has advised them to be cautious and not to betray his faith. But that's exactly what one of them seems to have done.
Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi's party leaders looked rattled by the turn of events. But the star himself seemed unconcerned during his Telangana tour, which started with much fanfare.
"Everything is fine with Praja Rajyam. I will leave Telangana only after making my stand clear,” Chiranjeevi said.
But Praja Rajyam insiders say they do have reasons to worry. Recently, an important file had gone missing from Chiranjeevi's office and they suspect it is an insider job.
With the Assembly polls just five months away, they fear that the superstar's detractors may employ such tactics to pull him down.
