New Delhi: The remarks of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray about President APJ Abdul Kalam have led to protests in various parts of the country.
Students in Varanasi burnt an effigy of Bal Thackeray and shouted slogans against him.
The protesters said they didn't belong to any political party and they were just common citizens of India.
“No one has spoken so cheaply about the president like this. Bal Thackeray has become mentally unstable and that's why he has been talking like this for the past few days,” one of the protestors said.
Speaking on the issue of the death sentence of Parliament attack accused, Mohammad Afzal Guru, Thackeray had said agitatedly in Marathi, “Now the President cannot see what is happening. His long hair has come before his eyes. He cannot see what is happening before him."
